M12 connectors for trains, trams and buses
Gimota GTM12 M12 connectors are compact, field-assembly-ready network connectors designed to provide reliable data connections in rail, tram and bus systems, as well as other transport technology applications. They support the development of high-performance Ethernet and data infrastructures for passenger information, internet access, video transmission, diagnostic data, control systems and other digital systems in modern vehicle networks.
The GTM12 connectors are based on the industry-proven M12 connection technology and are specifically adapted to the requirements of railway technology. Applications in rail vehicles and public transport place increased demands on vibration resistance, sealing, EMC shielding, temperature resistance, installation space and weight. The GTM12 series from Gimota was developed precisely for these conditions.
A key feature of the Gimota GTM12 connectors is their field-assembly design with twisted crimp contacts. This contact connection ensures high fatigue strength under vibration and mechanical stress and is particularly suitable for installations where reliable on-site assembly is required. EMC shielding via a spring-loaded shield ensures a stable shield connection and contributes to interference-free data transmission in electrically challenging environments.
With its slim metal housing ( Ø ≤ 16 mm ) and low weight, the GTM12 series is suitable for installations with limited space. The connectors feature a screw-lock mechanism, gold-plated crimp contacts, a cable range of 5.0 to 8.5 mm, and an operating temperature range of -55 °C to +85 °C. For data-intensive applications, the GTM12 offers transmission capabilities of up to 10 Gbit/s CAT 6A.
The GTM12 M12 connectors for railway applications are tested in accordance with EN 50155 and meet the requirements of the standards DIN EN 61076-2-101, DIN EN 61076-2-109 and DIN EN 61076-2-011. With an IP67 protection rating in accordance with DIN EN 60529, they are protected against dust and temporary submersion. The fire safety requirements in accordance with DIN EN 45545-2 R22, R23 / HL1, HL2, HL3 are also met. This makes the GTM12 suitable for robust, compact and EMC-compliant network connections in modern public transport vehicle networks.
