GM-R series modular circular connectors for railway and transport technology

Gimota’s GM-R series of modular circular connectors enable the combined transmission of signals, data and power within a single connector housing. Thanks to their modular design, comprising contact inserts, modules and accessories, customised connector solutions can be created for demanding applications in railway technology, transport technology and industry. The GM-R series is particularly suitable for space-saving installations on control cabinets, equipment, carriage crossings and other interfaces in and on trains.

A key advantage of Gimota’s GM-R connectors is their high degree of configuration flexibility. Different contact types and modules can be combined within a single housing, allowing signal, data and power connectors to be integrated in a way tailored to the specific application. Depending on the version, connections up to 1000 V and 200 A are possible. For data-intensive applications, the GM-R series supports transmission rates of up to 10 Gbit/s CAT 6A.

The GM-R connectors are based on tried-and-tested circular connectors in accordance with MIL-DTL-5015 and have been specifically adapted to the requirements of public transport. Robust aluminium housings, twisted crimp contacts and high resistance to vibration, shock and jolting ensure reliable connections in harsh environmental conditions. This makes the modular circular connectors particularly suitable for rail vehicles, rail transport systems and technical installations with high demands on operational safety and durability.

For demanding operating environments, the GM-R connectors for railway applications feature certified protection ratings up to IP69 in accordance with DIN EN 60529 and meet the requirements of the European fire safety standard EN 45545-2:2013 + A1:2015 and EN 45545-2:2020 in categories R22, R23, R24 / HL1, HL2, HL3. In EMC-critical applications, a reliable shield connection can be implemented to support interference-free signal and data transmission.
