GTB12 M12 bayonet connector with quick-lock mechanism for railway and transport technology
Gimota GTB12 connectors are M12 connectors with a bayonet lock, designed for robust network and data connections in trains, trams, buses and other transport technology applications. The series has been developed for applications where connectors need to be locked quickly, securely and in a vibration-resistant manner. The GTB12 connectors are based on M12 connection technology with a bayonet quick-lock mechanism in accordance with DIN EN 61076-2-011.
Unlike conventional M12 connectors with screw locking, GTB12 M12 connectors are locked via a form-fit bayonet mechanism. The defined engagement of the bayonet lock ensures a secure and repeatable lock — even in confined installation spaces or during frequent assembly operations. At the same time, the bayonet coupling ensures high vibration resistance, as the connection is mechanically and unambiguously locked and does not depend on the tightening torque of a screw connection.
Gimota’s GTB12 connectors are designed for modern vehicle networks and support Ethernet and data connections for passenger information, internet access, video transmission, diagnostics, control technology and other digital systems in public transport. With transmission capabilities of up to 10 Gbit/s CAT 6A, they are suitable for high-performance communication interfaces in rail vehicles, trams, buses and technical transport infrastructure systems.
Like Gimota’s other M12 connectors for rail applications, the GTB12 connectors are field-installable and fitted with twisted crimp contacts. Reliable EMC shielding via a spring-loaded shield ensures a stable shield connection and supports interference-free data transmission in electrically demanding environments. The slim, lightweight design facilitates use in compact installations where space and weight are critical factors.
With an IP67 protection rating in accordance with DIN EN 60529, the GTB12 M12 connectors with bayonet lock are protected against dust and temporary submersion. This makes them suitable for applications where moisture, condensation or changing environmental conditions may occur. The requirements of railway technology are further supported by testing in accordance with EN 50155 and fire protection in accordance with DIN EN 45545-2 R22, R23 / HL1, HL2, HL3.
